Nestled in the heart of the Bay of Plenty, our story began in 1982 with nothing more than Nan’s handwritten recipe book, a well-worn rolling pin, and a dream baked into every golden crust. What started as a small family kitchen operation has grown, generation by generation, into an iconic local pie institution – still guided by the same values that fired up our ovens over 40 years ago.
We make honest-to-goodness pies. That means using real ingredients, never cutting corners, and keeping our hands – and hearts – close to the craft. Each pie is a little labour of aroha, folded with care and baked with purpose.
Maketū Pies has recently joined the Montana Group family, and we are proud to carry on this iconic kiwi brand, with every item still being made in the small coastal Bay of Plenty town. Each day, our dedicated team of local pie makers ensure that every product leaving the factory is of the highest quality, reflecting the manaakitanga that Maketū is famous for.
From our whānau to yours, every bite tells a story. Of humble beginnings. Of whakapapa. Of a business built not just to feed people, but to nourish a community.
