NEW PRODUCT:
BUTTER CHICKEN PIE
While traditional flavours still dominate, there has been growing
customer demand for more exotic flavours. In order to meet this
demand we have embarked upon a programme of new product development.
Our first project was Butter Chicken, now considered to be New
Zealand's second favourite flavour after Fish and Chips.
We went straight to the source, North India, for our inspiration.
We did not Kiwify the recipe, but remained true to the origins
of the dish - that is lots of butter, cream and yoghurt, genuine
Indian made spices, (which really do taste a lot better than cheaper
alternatives), and of course quality chicken thigh meat.
For 6 months, Karen, toiled away balancing the flavours until she felt she
had achieved the right combination of ingredients.
She wasn't wrong! We released the pie in August 2006 and by December
2006 it has become one of our big Top 5 selling Flavours.
